Voice Difficulties

I love working with parents and helping them find their child’s voice. I provide affirmative speech and language therapy for all neuro types, helping children to communicate in a way that works for them.

I have more than 25 years experience in Speech and Language Therapy. I received my undergraduate degree from Syracuse University in New York before qualifying with a master’s degree at the University of Texas at Dallas. I’ve worked in Texas in the United States before moving to Ireland in 2005. CORU Registration Number: SL019309

experience includes working in Private Practice, Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome and Autistic Spectrum Disorder, with a wide variety of ages and disorders. As well as extensive direct clinical experience in Early Intervention, management and supervision, she provides SLT mentoring to other therapists.

I have a lot of experience in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), including Lamh (signing), the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and high tech communication devices. I’m also trained in providing the Elklan programme, which trains education staff and parents to enable them to be more effective in their support and care of children with speech, language and communication needs.

Additionally I am certified to present the Hanen parent training programmes It Takes Two to Talk, More Than Words and You Make the Difference.

I also offer the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment Programme (LSVT-LOUD) to adults with Parkinson’s and children with Down syndrome and motor speech disorders. I have a special interest in paediatric disability.

Outside CATTS I run a choir for People with Parkinson’s through the charity Move 4 Parkinson’s, as well as sing and act in musical theatre.
